A Wild Wonderland of Light

Glowing animals welcome you on an unforgettable nighttime journey that includes giant illuminated snowflakes, a disco ball forest, a whimsical herd of animated elephants, and a twinkling tunnel filled with dynamic swirls of color. L.A. Zoo Lights is a not-to-be-missed nighttime holiday light experience and has glowed brighter each year since its debut in 2014. This year's event features more light animals than ever before, spectacular new additions – both hand-crafted and high-tech – and returning favorites.

  • Take a self-guided 60- to 90-minute stroll through a large area of the Zoo featuring wildlife-inspired displays, dynamic lights and projections, immersive interactive experiences, fabulous photo ops, and seasonal magic.
  • Enjoy new features for the 2019/20 season, including the world's largest illuminated pop-up storybook, more light animals than ever before, beautiful hand-crafted Chinese silk lanterns, and a high-tech interactive display where dancing lights respond to guests' voices.
  • Capture your holiday memories in a photo with Santa Claus in a charming new setting on select dates.
  • Warm up with hot cocoa and other holiday treats available for purchase

Change of plans? Exchange your tickets for a $4 rescheduling fee per order, plus any difference in ticket prices. 48-hour advance notice required. Subject to ticket availability. Contact the Call Center to exchange tickets, 866/949-8007 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time.

PLEASE NOTE: Admission for this all-ages evening program is separate from daytime general Zoo admission.

Each person over the age of 2 in your party MUST have a ticket to enter L.A. Zoo Lights. Children under 2 are free.

Tickets are non- refundable. If you are unable to use your ticket, please consider your purchase a donation to the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Federal Tax ID 95-2369545.

L.A. Zoo Lights is a rain-or-shine event and will occur as scheduled in rainy conditions. Bring an umbrella and jacket!

As L.A. Zoo Lights is a special event, the only animals on display will be the critters in the LAIR and the Asian elephants, who can choose to be outside or in their barn. The rest of the Zoo's animals will be off exhibit and snug in their night quarters.
